JS body for reforming telecom laws

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Post and Telecommunications Ministry on Monday suggested for reforming telecom laws to bring discipline in the sector, reports UNB.
The committed also instructed the Ministry to take necessary steps in this regard.
It also expressed concern that some illegal operators are making overseas calls using V-Sat and thus causing huge loss of government revenue.
The 17th meeting of the committee was held at the parliament buildig with Chairman of the committee GM Fazlul Haq in the chair.
The meeting also discussed on matters regarding disconnection, reconnection and new connection of telephones under Gulshan and Mirpur exchanges of BTTB.
The meeting was told that automation of T&T system has already been introduced at some exchanges and the whole network would be brought under the programme very soon.
Among the committee members, Post and Telecommunications Minister Barrister Mohammad Aminul Huq, Syed Mehdi Ahmed Rumi, Panchanan Biswas and Abul Hossain Khan, Abdul Momin Talukder were present in the meeting.
Secretary of the Ministry and senior officials of BTTB also attended the meeting
