HC for declaring March 7 a National Day

The High Court on Monday issued a rule upon the government to explain as to why directives should not be given to set up a Bangabandhu speech-mode sculpture and a museum at the place where the March 7 Speech was delivered, and declare the day a national one.

 

The HC bench of Justice Kazi Rezaul Haque and Justice Mohamamd Ullah passed the order after hearing a writ petition on the issue.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid on Wednesday said the government has no plan to resume providing connections of natural gas to households in the future.

 

“We’ve kept suspended providing gas connections for household use. We have no plan to resume providing the connections in the future,” he told Parliament replying to a supplementary question from an MP.

Some 4.5 lakh Rohingyas biometrically registered

Some 450,000 (4.5 lakh) Rohingyas have so far been biometrically registered in 12 makeshift shelter camps in Ukhia and Teknaf upazilas of Cox’s Bazar.
